Tastes of Texas

The flavors of Texas are making themselves known in Ruth-Anne’s Gourmet Market, as Mrs. Renfro’s salsas take their place among our many delicious, highest quality dips.

Mrs. Renfro’s salsas are very natural-ingredients type products, such as you will find in the new-to-Ruth-Anne’s Roasted Garlic Salsa. Made with tomatoes, onion, garlic, and green chili, sweet green and jalapeño peppers, with no additives or preservatives, this is guaranteed to be a fresh, flavorful experience.

Labeled as a medium salsa, Mrs. Renfro’s Garlic Salsa is a garlic salsa with various peppers. You should expect a bit of a kick, you’re going to taste a bit of spice and zing in the garlic and jalapeños. Evan so, don’t be afraid of the kick or let it dissuade you from trying the Garlic Salsa – it’s the flavor that will stay with you, the fresh,  robust taste of vegetables and garlic that come together to make a superb snacking experience.

If you aren’t a big garlic lover, but like the sound of a fresh, flavorful salsa filled with good veggies and natural taste, try Mrs. Renfro’s Smokey Roasted Salsa. Made with a similar list of ingredients, tomatoes, onion, various peppers and spices, there’s only a dash of garlic here in the Roasted Salsa.

Another medium salsa, the peppers and onion in the Roasted Salsa are still liable to give you a little zing. But again, the real sensation of eating this salsa is flavor. The tomato and onion base, the variety of tastes supplied by the variety of peppers, chili, sweet and roasted. There’s a powerful, crisp and fresh flavor to be found in this salsa, that is certain to add to the enjoyment of any eating experience.

If you want to branch out beyond the simple chip and dip, try using Mrs. Renfro’s salsas to marinate chicken breast for the grill, or to flavor baked chicken for a pasta dish. You could also try mixing it into salad dishes if you’re feeling adventurous, or as a flavoring for a hamburger. If you’re more of an appetizer person, or are looking for a dish to share at a party, try putting together a Roasted Garlic Layered Border Dip:

  • 1 can refried beans
  • 8 oz. sour cream
  • 1 Jar Mrs. Renfro's Garlic Salsa
  • 8 oz. shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 8 oz. shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 Jar Mrs. Renfro's Roasted Salsa
  • 1 bunch - green onions, chopped
  • 1 can black olives, sliced

Using a large glass bowl, or a large and relatively deep glass dish, take the ingredients above and simply layer them, in the order they’re listed in. Keep refrigerated when not serving, and enjoy.
